Kuching striker Ramadhan fired up for new season by 'best goal' award

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuching City striker Ramadhan Saifullah Usman has been inspired for the upcoming season after winning the best goal award of the 2025-2026 M-League. The Johor Baru native, who made his debut for Kuching this year, aims to put in more effort and help the team achieve even greater success. At the M-League Awards last week, Ramadhan expressed gratitude to his team, coaching staff, teammates, and supporters for their unwavering trust and support during his first season.

Kuching City, under head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak, secured a second-place finish in the Super League, securing a spot in the Asean Club Championship (ACC) and Asian Champions League Two (ACL2), as well as a second-place finish in the Malaysia Cup. The team's addition of players like Dylan Wenzel-Halls, Gabriel Perez, and Safawi Rasid has intensified competition within the squad, but Ramadhan believes this enhancement will ultimately benefit Kuching City.

For the next season, Ramadhan anticipates an even more formidable Kuching City due to the improved squad depth compared to last year. The striker emphasized that they will be focusing on each game individually, as they prepare to participate in multiple competitions, including the ACL2 and ACC. Ramadhan acknowledges that the award-winning performance from the previous season does not guarantee him a starting position, as the increased competition presents a challenge. He accepts that vying for a place in the first 11 is an inherent aspect of football.
