Korean Cultural Center in Sweden to open book cafe blending literature with 'fika'

The Korean Cultural Center in Sweden is set to unveil a unique book cafe on August 17, merging Korean literature with the Swedish tradition of fika, which involves enjoying coffee or tea. This innovative space will not only introduce Korean literature to locals but also function as a reading lounge where patrons can unwind and read at their leisure. Additionally, the center will host a monthly Book of the Month Pairing event, which will feature a selected Korean literary work accompanied by a carefully chosen Korean tea.

To facilitate this, the center has established a cooperation agreement with Kkotsaem Food, a company specializing in Korean teas. Through this partnership, Korean teas such as roasted black barley tea will be introduced to Swedish audiences via the book pairing series. Beginning in late 2027, the cafe will undergo expansion to incorporate a showroom for the National Museum of Korea's MU:DS merchandise line.

This addition aims to offer visitors a comprehensive experience, allowing them to explore Korean literature, tea, and cultural products in a single setting.

The grand opening ceremony will be attended by Korea's ambassador to Sweden, a former Swedish ambassador to Korea, and representatives from the Swedish publishing industry. Following the ceremony, there will be a congratulatory reception.
