Kharge seeks PM, Shah response on China, Arunachal

Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to address the nation regarding reports suggesting China has limited or halted Indian troops' patrols in certain areas of Arunachal Pradesh. Kharge reiterated India's unwavering support for its soldiers and unity against any Chinese aggression.

The Congress president questioned the Modi government's response to these reports, especially following the 2020 Galwan clash where 20 Indian soldiers lost their lives. Kharge pointed out that China's actions since then have been emboldened, citing the lack of consequences for their earlier incursions. He raised concerns about China's potential expansion of presence near Taksing and the loss of regular access to Shera-5, a designated Patrolling Point.

Kharge also inquired about the current state of access to traditional grazing and hunting grounds for local communities and whether the status quo established before May 2020 has been fully restored. The BJP, he alleged, was trying to hide facts about the situation on the ground and not fully informing Parliament about India's access to areas within the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

The MEA had earlier stated that border matters with China are of utmost importance and maintaining peace along the LAC is crucial for bilateral relations. China, meanwhile, maintained that the situation along the border is generally stable and declined to comment on the specific reports.
