Keyamo to brief Tinubu on aviation dispute resolution

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has been briefed by President Bola Tinubu on the resolution reached between aviation sector unions and Airline Operators of Nigeria over the dispute concerning the Ticket Sales Charge. This occurred after an emergency meeting convened by Keyamo with the conflicting parties, shortly after unions suspended their industrial action that had disrupted flight operations at major airports nationwide.

The meeting, held in Abuja, resulted in a five-point resolution addressing grievances over airlines' outstanding TSC payments, workers' freedom to join trade unions, and preventing further disruptions. Keyamo presided over the virtual meeting, directing the Permanent Secretary, Mahmud Kambari, to prepare a detailed report and a public statement outlining the meeting's outcomes.

The resolution includes obtaining payment schedules from airlines with unpaid obligations, spreading payments over a reasonable period, and allowing workers to independently decide on union membership. Airlines preventing workers' access to union forms will face NCAA sanctions. Both parties agreed to reconvene in a month to assess implementation and review the dispute's progress.
