Kerjasama BN-PN di Pahang bergantung kepada PAS

The future of cooperation between Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional in Pahang hinges on PAS's acceptance, according to two analysts. PAS and Umno are considered equally strong in the state, with some analysts describing their relationship as balanced. Azmi Hassan suggests that cooperation between the two is possible, except if Umno or PAS, in alliance with Umno, desires a greater number of parliamentary seats than they currently hold.

The current DUN situation sees Umno and PAS each occupying 17 and 15 seats, respectively. Umno formed a state government with MCA and MIC, each holding one seat, while Pakatan Harapan contributed 10 seats, comprising six DAP, three PKR, and one Amanah. PAS is in the opposition block alongside Bersatu, holding two seats. PAS has contested an election in Negeri Sembilan recently, winning three out of four seats allocated to PN.

However, Azmi Hassan notes that PN could match Umno's seat count due to Bersatu's support. In light of the upcoming state election, PAS appears to have a slight advantage over Umno due to Umno's incumbent status and its closer relationship with the Pahang Palace compared to PAS.
