Kanto's new budget-friendly turntable has a few smart features to make it easy for novices to use, and it's lovely and compact too

Kanto Audio has introduced its latest budget-friendly turntable, the Obi3 Gen 2, which offers several smart features to make it easy for beginners to use. Following its previous model from October 2025, this new edition is priced at $249.99 / £179.99 (around AU$360), making it more affordable than high-end options like the Sony PS-LX310BT.

The Obi3 Gen 2 takes up minimal space at a compact 43.2 x 36cm footprint, perfect for those who lack dedicated shelf space. Despite its small size, it boasts useful features such as a built-in speed sensor that adjusts the motor's speed if it's running too fast or slow, preventing pitch changes in the music. This dual function as a speed selector also eliminates the need for manual dial adjustments when switching between 33 1/3 or 45 RPM records.

Unlike many budget turntables, the Kanto Audio Obi3 Gen 2 is a manual model, giving users the option to experiment with the complexities of manual operation without overwhelming them. The stylus, an Audio-Technica AT3600L, includes auto-stop technology to stop playing when the record ends. It connects wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.3 or via RCA cables, and users can connect it to various devices. The turntable comes in five color options, including black, white, green, ice blue, and walnut.
