Kalonzo: Kenya needs to be rescued from Ruto’s unprecedented public resource theft

Kalonzo Musyoka, leader of the Wiper Party, has criticized President William Ruto's administration for what he claims is unprecedented theft of public resources. Speaking in Kakuyuni, a coastal town, during his campaign tour, Musyoka called for the "rescue" of Kenya from the current government. He said the nation is experiencing a serious governance crisis that demands political change.

Musyoka accused Ruto's administration of taking public resource theft to an unprecedented level, something Kenyans had not anticipated. "Wizi umefikia kiwango ambacho hakuna ambaye alikuwa ananuia, aliyezaliwa Kenya, kwamba unaweza kuiba mali ya umma kiasi na kiwango ambacho serikali ya Bwana Ruto imekamilisha," he stated.

He also reiterated that Ruto would only serve one term, as he prepares for the 2027 general elections. During the campaign, Musyoka highlighted the Coast's agricultural potential beyond just selling raw products, particularly in cashew nuts and coconuts. He suggested that value addition could generate employment opportunities for young people.

Musyoka also opened up about former Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa, expressing confidence in her political experience. "Tuna uzoefu. Mimi nikiwa na huyu dada Aisha, nataka niwahakikishieni, ngavana mtampatia. Kweli si kweli?" he asked. Musyoka has framed the upcoming election as a contest over governance, economic opportunities, and the management of public resources, positioning the opposition as an alternative to the Ruto administration.
