Jaffar Khan Mandokhail Attends UN AI Summit Instead of IT Minister

This week, Balochistan Governor Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail represented Pakistan at the Youth and AI Summit 2026, held at the United Nations headquarters in New York, in the absence of the IT Minister. The summit, organized by the International Organization of Youth alongside the Permanent Missions of the Bahamas and Dominica, aimed to explore the role of artificial intelligence among young people.

Upon his arrival, Mandokhail was welcomed by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, and officials from the Pakistan Mission. While the summit focused on the rapidly evolving world of AI, it was not within Mandokhail's expertise. The Federal Minister for IT & Telecom, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, was notably absent from the event.
