Indonesia MPR calls for end to wars in Middle East, encourages peace

Doha, Qatar - The State of Qatar has strongly denounced Iran's attack on two oil tankers belonging to Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) as they traversed the Strait of Hormuz. The incident, according to the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represents a grave breach of international law, the right to navigate freely on the seas, and a direct violation of UN Security Council resolution 2817.

The Ministry reiterates Qatar's unwavering stance against the use of the Strait of Hormuz as a political tool. They urge for the immediate reopening of the strait without any preconditions. They underscore that unrestricted passage through this critical waterway is a fundamental principle that should not be compromised. The closure of the strait, they argue, not only jeopardizes the strategic interests of regional countries but also poses a threat to the world economy.

The Ministry emphasizes the need to stop Iran's unjustified aggression against the properties of allied nations. They express their full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and support all measures UAE will undertake to safeguard its assets.
