Indian electronics firm Eureka investigating findings of child labour at supplier

Indian electronics firm Eureka Forbes has initiated an internal investigation following allegations of child labor at one of its suppliers in New Delhi, according to the National Human Rights Commission. The commission had asked Eureka, Havells, and Unilever's India unit to conduct checks after the rescue of four children, aged between 14 and 16, from a small-scale electrical wiring and component company called YY Harness.

The company did not respond to a request for comment. Eureka Forbes, a popular maker of water purifiers, stated that they take such allegations very seriously and have initiated a review and audit of their practices. Hindustan Unilever denied the vendor was a business partner. Havells did not respond to queries. Priyank Kanoongo, a senior member of the commission, stated that companies profiting from child labor are equivalent to "blood-money."

Police are currently investigating the incident. The commission has previously intervened over Amazon's labor practices at a warehouse in New Delhi.
