Independence Day 2026: Kolkata Metro to run 438 services on August 15

Kolkata Metro will run 438 services on August 15 to celebrate Independence Day 2026. The oldest Metro network will operate 194 services on the Blue Line and 148 on the Green Line. The Yellow Line will have 92 services. Four direct services will connect Jai Hind Bimanbandar and Sahid Khudiram, replacing the usual five. On the Blue and Green Lines, Metro Railway will run modified services, 97 in each direction on the Blue Line and 74 in each direction on the Green Line.

The Yellow Line will maintain its usual 92 services. Normal services will continue on the Purple Line, while the Orange Line will have no services on August 15. The first and last Metro service timings will remain unchanged, with the initial service starting at 6 am from terminal stations. Kolkata Metro has also revised rules regarding drunkenness and nuisance on Metro premises, imposing penalties including imprisonment, fines, or both for those found intoxicated and endangering passengers, as well as for Metro employees.
