‘Imagine the audacity’: Mahua Moitra alleges late-night eviction bid from Circuit House

NEW DELHI: Trinamool Congress Member of Parliament Mahua Moitra accused the local administration of attempting to force her to leave her room at Circuit House in Nadia late at night. Moitra claimed she was granted the room she typically occupies at Circuit House at 6:30 pm, after which she was served dinner at 9:20 pm. At 9:47 pm, she received a call from the Additional District Magistrate demanding that she vacate the room.

Moitra expressed her astonishment at the audacity of the administration's actions. She also appealed to her opposition colleagues, urging them to support her in her assertion that she is an elected MP until 2029 and that the Circuit House is officially designated for MPs' accommodation. Moitra directly addressed Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, stating that she would not comply with the administration's request to vacate her room.

On Friday, Moitra appeared before Nadia Police in connection with a hate speech case, meeting with the investigating officer around 2 pm and leaving the police station about an hour later as directed by the Calcutta High Court.
