IBM partners with OpenAI to accelerate enterprise artificial intelligence deployment

Armonk, N.Y., August 13, 2026 - IBM has announced a strategic partnership with OpenAI to help businesses deploy AI at scale across core operations and complex workflows. This collaboration aims to address the challenge of integrating AI securely and effectively into enterprise environments. Joint marketing efforts and industry-specific solutions for finance, government, telecommunications, retail, and key enterprise domains like finance, procurement, customer operations, and HR will be developed.

IBM will integrate OpenAI's frontier models, such as GPT-5.6, and tools like Codex and ChatGPT Work into its AI platform, IBM Consulting Advantage. This integration will enable clients to securely deploy AI at scale, drive business outcomes, and develop new commercial models. IBM will also establish a dedicated OpenAI Practice staffed with thousands of certified consultants and engineers from the OpenAI Partner Network.

The partnership will focus on three key areas: transforming legacy operations into AI-ready workflows, application modernization and product development, and enhancing cybersecurity and AI risk management. By combining IBM's consulting expertise and cybersecurity capabilities with OpenAI's frontier AI models, the companies aim to help organizations securely and efficiently deploy AI across complex business workflows and highly regulated environments.
