I wanted to be excited about the Pixel 11, but Google has made that impossible with the most uninspired launch I've ever seen

For the past five years, the author has been using Pixel phones, with the Pixel 6 Pro being their first. While they appreciate the Pixel software, Google's recent decisions, especially regarding the Pixel 11 launch, have left them feeling uninspired. The Pixel 11 series, along with a new Pixel 5 watch and a Pixel Tag Bluetooth tracker, were unveiled at Google's annual Made by Google event. However, the author feels that the Pixel 11 launch lacks excitement and significant upgrades.

Comparing the Pixel 11 series to its predecessors, the author notes that there isn't much difference in design or hardware. The Tensor G6 processor, brighter Super Actua Displays, and small quality-of-life upgrades like 256GB base storage and faster 25W wireless charging speeds are not substantial improvements. The Pixel 11 Pro's cameras have larger sensors for better low-light performance, but the overall camera setup remains unchanged from the Pixel 10 Pro.

Moreover, the cheapest Pro models have experienced a RAM downgrade, which negatively impacts on-device AI capabilities.

The author is particularly disappointed with the lack of software upgrades, such as the AI features that Google has been emphasizing with each Pixel launch. While the Rambler feature and real-time speech-to-speech translation are intriguing, the overall software experience feels uninspired. The same can be said for Android 17, which the author finds lacking in noteworthy updates.
