Google’s first Google Store outside the U.S. is now open in Tokyo

Google has inaugurated its first store outside the United States in Tokyo, Japan, at Omotesando, a prestigious fashion district. The grand opening took place on August 13, providing enthusiasts with an opportunity to explore the latest Google Pixel smartphones, as well as other Google devices like Fitbit and Nest, alongside accessories such as Pixel cases from Tokyo-based manufacturer Casefinite.

The store also features a dedicated help desk staffed with knowledgeable personnel to assist with inquiries, troubleshooting, and repairs for Google products and services. Additionally, customers can arrange for in-store pickup of online orders.

Google's decision to set up its first store in Tokyo is strategic, aiming to capitalize on the area's fashionable and sophisticated image. The presence of Google in Omotesando, a neighborhood known for its stylish and cosmopolitan atmosphere, could help associate the tech giant's products and services with these desirable qualities.

Notably, Google faces competition from tech titans Apple and Samsung, with Apple boasting a store in the nearby Harajuku area and Samsung's Galaxy smartphone brand having a showroom even closer by.

In today's mobile-centric society, where going out without a phone seems just as inconceivable as going out without dressing, it's understandable that Harajuku is emerging as a hub where fashion and smartphone brands coexist. Google Store Omotesando, located at Tokyo-to, Shibuya-ku, Jingumae 4-40-3, Tokyu Plaza Omokado, is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., providing tech enthusiasts with a new destination to explore Google's latest offerings.
