Gill on Gurnoor vs Prasidh for Galle Test: ‘Best I’ve ever seen him bowl’

India will commence their quest for a spot in the 2025 World Test Championship final with a two-Test series against Sri Lanka in Galle. Shubman Gill, the team's captain, expressed his admiration for both Gurnoor Brar and Prasidh Krishna, the country's fast bowlers. The 26-year-old Gill appreciated Brar's skill in extracting movement from the old ball and admitted that he had rarely witnessed Prasidh Krishna bowl better than he does recently.

Gill acknowledged that making a choice between the two talented bowlers would be a challenging decision for the team.

Gill also expressed concern about the slow pace of the pitch, which may make it difficult for the bowlers to take early wickets. To address this issue, the team will need to devise diverse strategies to create pressure on the opposition throughout the Test match, particularly during the first and second days. Gill highlighted Manav Suthar's dual capabilities as a bowler and a lower-order batsman, emphasizing the importance of his contributions in the Test matches.

He added that a bowler's batting contribution could become crucial if the opposition scores a significant number of runs in the first innings.

Furthermore, Gill emphasized the significance of an adequate preparation period before a Test series, especially for players who find it challenging to adapt to different conditions. He acknowledged that most of the players in the team require additional time to adjust, which would have been beneficial if the team had had a week or 10 days to prepare for the upcoming series.
