Salary Report 2026: 1.3 million salary data for comparison: Do you belong to the top earners in Germany?

Berlin. Questions about salary are essential for employees: Who earns how much? How high can the demand be in the annual appraisal? And when is a job change financially worthwhile? How much someone earns is a taboo topic in Germany. And this is despite the fact that from June onwards, companies must state an average salary in job advertisements.

However, on the Indeed job platform, only around 16 percent of German employers do this. In contrast, in the UK it was around 70 percent, and in France 35 percent. According to a study by the recruitment consultancy Randstad, money is the most frequently cited reason for changing employer.

To create more transparency, the job platform Stepstone publishes its salary report every year - and compares, based on 1.3 million salary data, in which industries or professions the Germans earn the most.
