Firm Commences Global Expansion Post-$40M Strategic Funding Round

Licensed stablecoin infrastructure and payments specialist, Emma Okonji Yellow Card, is expanding its operations beyond Africa, including Nigeria, following a successful $40 million strategic funding round. The recent investment, led by SC Ventures from Standard Chartered, Sony Innovation Fund, Polychain Capital, Blockchain Capital, and other strategic investors, brings the company's total equity financing to over $120 million.

Group Vice President of Operations and Managing Director of Yellow Card Nigeria, Lasbery Oludimu, announced the global expansion strategy during a media briefing in Lagos. With the latest funding, Yellow Card aims to expand its regulatory presence and forge partnerships with global financial and payments firms in the US, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific region.

Currently, the company operates in more than 50 markets, offering stablecoin payments, fiat settlement rails, wallet services, and custom local stablecoin issuance.

Oludimu emphasized that the company's growth strategy prioritizes building infrastructure, partnerships, and regulatory foundations to operate globally. He stated, "Our growth is not merely about entering more countries. We are constructing the infrastructure, regulatory framework, and partnerships necessary to connect businesses across markets reliably and in compliance. Africa remains a focal point of this strategy, even as we expand globally."

The new funding will bolster the development of Yellow Card's Global USD Accounts, an end-to-end dollar account for businesses, and enhance stablecoin connectivity across all its markets. Oludimu explained that the firm's infrastructure boasts a single API integration, enabling customers to access various operating options. "If you have a business in Nigeria and a branch in Ghana, Kenya, or other African markets, a single API integration with us will allow you to utilize other African markets for your operations," he said.
