Firefox is now the last major browser that still supports uBlock Origin

Mozilla has confirmed that it will continue to support uBlock Origin in the latest version of its Firefox browser. This announcement comes shortly after Microsoft announced plans to restrict access to uBlock Origin and similar ad-blocking extensions in its Edge browser. The reason for this decision is that Microsoft Edge will soon adopt the Manifest V3 architecture, which poses challenges for ad-blocking extensions that rely on the older Manifest V2 format.

Edge's migration to Manifest V3 follows a trend initiated by Google in Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers. Despite sharing the same underlying browser engine as many popular browsers, Firefox remains the sole major non-Chromium-based browser still supporting uBlock Origin. This puts Firefox in a unique position among non-Chromium browsers, as neither Safari nor DuckDuckGo currently offer uBlock Origin compatibility.

For users who rely heavily on uBlock Origin's capabilities, Firefox offers a compelling option without feature compromises. In contrast, users of other browsers may have to resort to alternative versions of uBlock Origin with reduced functionality or built-in ad-blocking features provided by their browser.
