Firebird launches Armenia AI hub with vast expansion

Firebird has opened a massive artificial intelligence computing facility in Armenia, marking the launch of a major expansion expected to house over 70,000 NVIDIA Blackwell and Rubin GPUs by the end of 2027. This Hrazdan facility represents the operational debut of Firebird's international AI infrastructure platform, with plans to reach a 300 megawatt capacity through a three-phase programme.

Built on NVIDIA's DSX AI Factory design, the site utilizes Spectrum-X networking, Dell infrastructure, Schneider Electric power systems, and Vertiv cooling technology. The first phase, costing about $500 million, has been completed in just six months since breaking ground. Firebird aims to provide advanced computing resources to Armenia, research institutions, and companies, moving away from reliance on centralized AI clusters in established hubs.

The site, spanning 200,000 square meters, offers a high-bandwidth fiber network and a closed-loop water cooling system. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang emphasized the role of AI factories in enabling countries to develop technology domestically and enhance economic competitiveness. Firebird's strategy extends beyond Armenia, with Kazakhstan identified as a second major market, and the company targeting a two-gigawatt global infrastructure capacity by 2028.
