Ex-Cambridge professor accused of plagiarism found dead

Former University of Cambridge professor Jason Arday, 41, has been found dead in south London, media outlets report. His death comes amid a high-profile plagiarism scandal that also involved allegations of racism. Arday resigned from his Cambridge posts on August 5 following the institution's announcement of an investigation into the accusations against him.

He stated that his decision to quit was to end a "difficult period" and insisted the move should not be mistaken for an admission of the narratives surrounding him. The university's top administrator called Arday's alleged wrongdoing an "aberration" and promised a thorough investigation. However, the police have not confirmed the dead man's identity, treating his death as unexpected and not suspicious.

The case is being investigated by officers from the Met’s Central South Command Unit, with a file to be prepared for the coroner.
