‘Every opportunity on the mound is a great one’

Landen Bourassa, a pitcher from Alberta, didn't need to spend two months in Mexico to realize how much he appreciated living in Manitoba. The 29-year-old was already a big fan of the city. Bourassa, who now pitches for the Winnipeg Goldeyes, took a professional detour to Mexico this summer to pursue a unique opportunity. However, the experience wasn't as fruitful as he hoped.

In Mexico, he struggled to find a fit in the hitter-friendly league, giving up 14 runs in 13 2/3 innings over five starts and only making two relief appearances. His time in Mexico resulted in a 7.86 earned run average, far from his impressive 4.13 mark with the Goldeyes.

Despite the disappointment, Bourassa appreciated the challenge and the experience. He was happy to be back in Winnipeg, where owner Sam Katz, general manager Andrew Collier, and manager Logan Watkins had built a terrific culture. Bourassa expressed his gratitude to the team, saying, "I kept joking when I talked to Logan that I have to come back and give him and Andrew and Sam a big hug and let them know how much I appreciate how smoothly things are run around here."

With his return, Bourassa's addition has solidified the Goldeyes' staff, which already boasted solid pieces. The team is currently leading the West Division with a 43-33 record, sitting in first place thanks to a recent 16-game winning streak. Bourassa's return helps the team continue its success and compete for an American Association championship.
