Empower Vault Summit brings top leaders, entrepreneurs together to inspire Ghana’s youth

Young Ghanaians were urged to embrace purpose, leadership and opportunity at the Empower Vault Summit, a gathering of students, young professionals, entrepreneurs and policymakers held at the University of Ghana. Dean of Student Affairs Prof. Rosina Kyerematen encouraged attendees to believe in their potential and develop the courage to act on their ambitions. She emphasized that talent and dreams translate into achievement only with continuous learning, resilience and deliberate action.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin highlighted Ghana's high youth unemployment rate, emphasizing that the country's youthful population is an economic opportunity rather than a burden. He urged the youth to move beyond seeking jobs and start thinking about what they could create, solve and contribute to their communities.

Mr Afenyo-Markin stressed that purpose is what gives direction to ambition. He encouraged students to ask themselves why they want what they want and who will ultimately benefit from the lives they choose to build. Purpose changes how young people view education and talent, shifting their focus from what they can get to what they can give.

CEO of Wakanow, Bayo Adedeji, challenged the youth to develop a mindset that allows them to see opportunities even within difficult circumstances. He shared how Wakanow transformed the travel agency industry by identifying an opportunity to make travel services more transparent and accessible through technology. Adedeji urged young Africans to develop this mindset to transform both Africa's development trajectory and its global image.
