Despite safety clearance, Pune metro line 3 awaits CMO’s reply for inauguration

Nearly a month after the Metro Rail Safety Commissioner granted approval for a 13-kilometer stretch of Metro Line 3, the Chief Minister's Office has yet to respond with an official inauguration date. Metro Line 3, connecting Hinjewadi with Pune city, was expected to alleviate daily commuter woes. Due to various delays, the project is being executed in two phases: the first 13 km from Mann Metro station to R K Laxman Museum, and the second 10 km from Balewadi to Shivajinagar.

On July 23, the CMRS authorized the first phase's passenger operations. This development is a significant relief for Pune residents and the PMRDA (Pune Metro Rail Development Authority). PMRDA remains committed to expediting the remaining formalities for a prompt commencement of passenger services. However, no response has been received from the Chief Minister's Office regarding the official inauguration.

PMRDA officials are preparing for the event, assuming either the Chief Minister or Prime Minister Narendra Modi would attend. Security arrangements are under consideration, and all preparations are being made to accommodate any short notice in the inauguration timing.
