Despite Nigel Farage's recent by-election win in Clacton, his political future remains uncertain. From the moment it was clear he would win, Farage's team warned him against attending the count, citing an organized effort to disrupt the result. However, Essex Police denied this claim, stating they were there to ensure the security of all participants.

Farage's victory was overshadowed by various issues, including a £5 million cash gift inquiry and claims he was the victim of a witch-hunt. Afraid of sharing a stage with independent candidates and comedians, Farage opted not to attend the count. This decision may have been influenced by the prospect of facing a parliamentary inquiry that could suspend his MP status and lead to another by-election.

With the Conservatives, Labour, Liberal Democrats, and Greens likely to compete in the next round, Farage's chances of becoming a contender for 10 Downing Street appear slim. The by-election saw Farage winning 63.3% of the vote, a significant improvement from his 71% in the previous general election, but still lower than the 71% secured by David Davis in another recent by-election boycotted by the other main parties.
