Croatia denied visas to nine Russian gymnasts, then admitted four. One of them, Angelina Melnikova, later won gold.

Nine Russian gymnasts were initially denied visas to compete in the 2026 European Championships in artistic gymnastics held in Croatia, but four of them, including the gold medal winner Angelina Melnikova, were later granted permission to participate. Melnikova secured the individual all-around title with a score of 55.932 points, outperforming Anna Kalmykova, who finished second with 54.632 points, and Elena Colas of France, who placed third with 53.966 points.

The athletes competed in multiple events, including the uneven bars, balance beam, vault, and floor exercise. Melnikova, a five-time European champion, also holds Olympic and world championship titles. This marks the first time Russian gymnasts have competed at the European Championships in five years, competing under neutral status.

The women's and men's tournaments took place in Zagreb from August 13 to 16 and August 19 to 23, respectively.
