Count Binface receives over a quarter of votes in Clacton by-election

In the recent Clacton by-election, Count Binface, the self-proclaimed intergalactic space warrior, garnered nearly 9,455 votes, representing 26.9% of the total. This was his highest vote share yet, surpassing his previous best of 69 votes in 2017 when he ran as Lord Buckethead in his first ever election. The high-profile race was primarily between Count Binface and Nigel Farage of Reform UK, with Farage receiving a staggering 22,239 votes and a significant majority of the vote.

Other candidates, such as the Monster Raving Loony Party's Sir Archibald Stanton, received only 99 votes. Count Binface, whose real name is Jon Harvey, is a comedian and Oxford graduate who has been making a name for himself through his satirical political performances. He first entered an election in 2017, winning 249 votes under the Lord Buckethead persona.

Since then, he has run as Count Binface in various by-elections, most notably in 2024, where he received a respectable 9,455 votes. Despite not securing a win, Binface's main goal appears to be poking fun at the political establishment and providing a platform for political dissent.
