Como approach Chelsea over summer transfer for striker Liam Delap

Italian club Como have shown interest in signing Chelsea striker Liam Delap this summer, according to transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano. It is reported that Chelsea sold Trevoh Chalobah to Como for approximately £25 million this season, and the two clubs may pursue another deal together. Currently, Como possesses only two recognized senior strikers, Anastasios Douvikas and Alvaro Morata.

Douvikas managed to score 14 goals in Serie A last season; however, Morata failed to find the back of the net. The Italian club is in dire need of adding more attacking presence to their squad.

Chelsea is willing to offload Delap just a year after his £30 million transfer from Ipswich Town. The Englishman suffered from injuries and a decline in form during his first season at Stamford Bridge, where competition for positions is at an all-time high. Chelsea's recent additions, Danny Welbeck and Emanuel Emegha, have further intensified the competition.

With Joao Pedro and Nicolas Jackson also part of the squad, Chelsea needs to find a way to manage their roster. Delap's meager tally of three goals in 47 competitive appearances has not helped his case, making him a prime candidate for a transfer.

Initially, Chelsea were reportedly demanding a staggering £50 million for the 23-year-old, but Como is hoping to negotiate a more reasonable fee. Several Premier League clubs are keeping an eye on Delap's situation, but a move to Italy could prove beneficial for him. The prospect of playing in the Champions League appeals to Delap, and a transfer to Italy might provide him with the opportunity to do so.
