Chiefs looks to continue good form against Sundowns

Kaizer Chiefs are eager to build on their recent good form as they prepare to host Mamelodi Sundowns at the FNB Stadium on Saturday. The goal is to achieve three consecutive wins and hold onto the top position in the Betway Premiership. However, the Amakhosi players are well aware of the challenge they face against Sundowns, who have been crowned African Champions this year.

The two teams have a history of encountering each other in the league with two draws in their last meetings. In the opening fixture of last season, they played to a goalless draw at the FNB Stadium. Their subsequent reverse fixture at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium also ended in a 1-all draw. Amidst this, Chiefs' defender Inacio Miguel believes that this season's team is strong and capable of competing against any opponent, including Sundowns.

He emphasizes the importance of respect for Sundowns, acknowledging their recent African Champions title, but also stresses the team's own capabilities.

While Chiefs managed to defeat Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals two seasons ago, midfielder Asanele Velebayi cautions that the Soweto giants will not find the task easy. He highlights the confidence gained from their recent victory, along with a strong mentality required to face a top-tier opponent.

As of yesterday afternoon, over 30,000 tickets have been sold for the match, with Stadium Management South Africa Managing Director Bertie Grobbelaar expressing confidence in filling the stadium to capacity. The highly anticipated clash is set to start at 3pm, with four other matches scheduled for the same day.
