Berlin AI InsurTech startup omni:us acquired by Dortmund’s adesso embed AI into core insurance systems

Dortmund-based software provider adesso has acquired Berlin-based AI startup omni:us, integrating AI technology into core insurance systems. The acquisition combines adesso's insurance and software expertise with omni:us' AI capabilities. adesso plans to progressively embed omni:us technology into its core insurance platform, in|sure Ecosphere.

Adriana Nolte, Managing Director of adesso's Insurance Business Solutions, stated that artificial intelligence integrates with systems, data, and control mechanisms. Founded in 1997, adesso is a leading IT service provider in the German-speaking market, offering core insurance systems. In 2024, the company reported earnings of €1.3 billion and employed over 11,100 people across 65 locations.

Founded in 2015, omni:us provides AI-powered end-to-end insurance claim automation, including standardised claims automation and an agentic co-pilot for complex cases. The company's technology analyses claims information, applies insurance-specific logic, and generates traceable outputs. Through the acquisition, omni:us gains access to adesso's market presence and its insurance, integration, implementation, and scaling capabilities.

Adesso's customers will benefit from AI technology for claims processing, integrated into adesso's existing core insurance systems and insurance transformation portfolio. Both companies emphasized that their joint product strategy adheres to regulated insurance process requirements, including explainability, human oversight, operational reliability, data protection, information security, and full traceability.
