Be mindful of strong India-Italy ties, says MEA after Rahul's jibe at Modi & Meloni

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) urged individuals to be mindful of the strong ties between India and Italy, following a controversy involving Congress member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi and party general secretary Sandeep Dikshit. The incident arose from their criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's foreign policy approach, as well as an exchange with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted the importance of maintaining respectful diplomatic relations with Italy, emphasizing the significance of their robust relationship. The controversy stemmed from Rahul Gandhi's remarks on Modi's foreign policy, which Dikshit interpreted as being "about hugging leaders." Dikshit subsequently questioned Meloni about her understanding of the situation. Rahul Gandhi later responded that he had not yet reached that point of understanding.
