Akhilesh takes potshots at U.P. govt.’s project on cow urine collection

Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav criticized the Uttar Pradesh government's pilot project aimed at collecting cow urine from farmers. In a tweet on social media platform X, Yadav commented, "Another step of U.P. government towards one trillion economy. Well, at least the sellers will buy something."

The project, announced by the government, aligns with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's vision of connecting cow protection with rural economy, women's empowerment, and organic farming. The initiative began as a pilot project in Bulandshahr through a farmer producer organization, where cow urine is being purchased at ₹10 per litre. If successful, plans are underway to expand this model to other regions of the state, providing additional income to families raising cattle.

The project initiated in Bulandshahr's Syana tehsil has brought 15 neighboring villages on board. Local collection centers have been set up in these villages for cow urine collection, currently gathering around 500 litres daily. The government plans to increase the procurement price to ₹20 per litre in the future.
