After Mumbai biker Riddhi Thakkar’s death in hit-and-run, kin say things don’t add up

Riddhi Thakkar, a 24-year-old Kandivali resident and experienced biker, tragically lost her life in a hit-and-run accident in Chhattisgarh. The family is struggling to understand why she was riding a Bajaj Avenger when the Tiranga ride, which she had organized, required her to ride a Royal Enfield Hunter 350. Her father, Divyesh Thakkar, explained that Riddhi had owned the Hunter for four years and had used it for multiple solo trips, which she enjoyed immensely.

Police are currently investigating the case, working to trace the trailer and gather information from other riders in the group. According to organiser Amita Bais, Riddhi volunteered to ride the damaged Avenger after a rider from Nagpur crashed, damaging the brakes. Despite the organiser's objection, Riddhi insisted on riding it, stating she could manage it with her experience.

The accident occurred on National Highway 30 near Markatola Ghat, well before the scheduled start of the Tiranga rally. Riddhi was among 20 women bikers from across India who participated in the ride, and she was expected to return to Mumbai on August 18. Her father emphasized that the accident happened before the rally began, as they were only en route to the destination.

The family is now focused on bringing Riddhi's body back to Mumbai and dealing with the emotional impact of their devastating loss.
