Actor Tay Ping Hui mourns mother, who died of cancer: 'Life without you will never be the same'

Singaporean actor Tay Ping Hui has expressed deep sorrow over the recent passing of his mother, who succumbed to cancer. In an emotionally charged Instagram post, Tay shared a collection of photos showcasing his mother's life, from her younger years to more recent snapshots. The post revealed that his mother's battle with pancreatic cancer had taken a turn for the worse about two months ago, as it had metastasized to her liver. Tay's mother passed away just over a week after her diagnosis.

Tay described the experience as a "painful and heartbreaking journey," emphasizing that his mother had fought valiantly throughout her illness. The actor also disclosed that his mother had been diagnosed with dementia, which contributed to the family's decision to stay by her bedside at home instead of in a hospital. This arrangement allowed familiar faces to be present during her final days, offering comfort and support.

Reflecting on his mother's life, Tay encapsulated her essence with a single word: "love." He fondly recalled her love for cooking, mahjong, and, above all else, life itself. Tay concluded his tribute by expressing his profound sense of loss, stating that "Life without you will never be the same." He mentioned missing her familiar endearment of calling him "ah boy" and vowed to cherish the memory of his mother until they reunited in the afterlife.
