4WD badly damaged after tree falls on vehicle in Tuaran

TUARAN: A four-wheel-drive vehicle was severely damaged after a fallen tree crashed into it along Jalan Bolong, near Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Pekan Tuaran, this afternoon. The male driver, an adult, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Tuaran Hospital by locals for medical attention. The incident reportedly occurred around 3:30pm during clear weather conditions.

The Tuaran Civil Defence Force (APM) received an emergency call via the 999 hotline regarding a fallen tree that had struck a vehicle and obstructed the main road along Jalan Bolong. In a statement tonight, APM explained that the complainant was en route to Pekan Tuaran when he noticed the fallen tree blocking a four-wheel-drive vehicle.

Alarmed for the safety of himself and other road users, the complainant promptly reported the incident to the 999 emergency line. The complainant also informed the APM that an adult male involved in the accident had been rescued by members of the public and taken to Tuaran Hospital for treatment. A team of 5 APM personnel was promptly dispatched to the scene.

Upon their arrival, they encountered a mature rain tree, estimated to be 60 feet tall and approximately 2 adult arm spans in diameter, that had fallen onto a white Toyota SR 2.8 four-wheel-drive vehicle, blocking both lanes of the main road. The APM team proceeded to cut up and remove the fallen tree with the assistance of the Public Works Department (JKR) and members of the public. The road was restored to traffic after the tree was safely removed and the area cleared.
