49ers rookie receiver De’Zhaun Stribling makes a strong first impression

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — The San Francisco 49ers selected De’Zhaun Stribling with the first pick of the second round in April, a move that initially seemed surprising given the presence of more experienced college receivers on the draft board. However, Stribling's impressive performance in practice and exhibition debut has quickly silenced those doubts.

In a recent game against Tennessee, Stribling caught seven passes for 63 yards in less than a half, outperforming the top draft pick of the year, Carnell Tate. Despite being aware of the five receivers taken ahead of him, Stribling remains focused on his own development, emphasizing that he is not going to compare his journey to theirs.

During the game, Stribling showcased his speed and ability to create separation, catching all five targets on his final two drives, including contested catches and a crucial 11-yard catch-and-run. With no immediate starter for the 49ers' starting receiver position due to Ricky Pearsall's injury, the team sees Stribling as a potential game-changer in the rotation.
