4 PPP lawmakers indicted for blocking investigators from detaining ex-President Yoon in 2025

In a recent development, a special counsel team has indicted four members of the People Power Party (PPP) for obstructing investigators from detaining former President Yoon Suk Yeol in 2025. The lawmakers in question are Reps. Na Kyung-won, Kim Gi-hyeon, Kwon Young-jin, and Yoon Sang-hyun. They are accused of forming a human wall with Yoon's supporters outside the presidential residence on January 15, 2025, in an attempt to prevent investigators from taking him into custody.

This action took place during the PPP leader's failed attempt to establish martial law. According to special counsel Kwon Chang-young's team, the defendants did not merely voice opposition to the detention, but physically blocked entry into the residence by forming a human barrier with other individuals. The team confirmed these allegations after reviewing video footage of the incident and testimonies from multiple officials involved in the operation.

Despite investigators' multiple attempts throughout the month to detain Yoon, they were ultimately successful in apprehending him after the Presidential Security Service declined to cooperate on the day of the attempted detention.
