2,150 lives transformed: UAE organ transplants give patients a new lease on life

Abu Dhabi has established itself as a global leader in organ transplantation, with 2,150 patients benefiting from life-saving procedures since the launch of the national "Hayat" organ and tissue donation programme in 2017. In 2025, 631 organ transplant operations were performed across the emirate, marking a 118% increase from the previous year.

This success is attributed to Abu Dhabi's integrated organ transplantation ecosystem, which includes advanced infrastructure, cutting-edge healthcare facilities, world-class medical expertise, pioneering innovation, and international collaboration. The Multi-Organ Transplant Centre at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, the UAE's first of its kind, plays a crucial role in this ecosystem by providing specialized transplant care and operating the country's only heart and lung transplant program.
