The Bangladesh Nationalist Party nominated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir as its presidential candidate on Thursday, ahead of the August 20 election. He resigned as secretary general and from the Standing Committee following his nomination, as announced by senior party official Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
