‘Where else would cockroaches live?’: Kangana Ranaut defends her Gen Gutter remarks

Kangana Ranaut, a BJP MP and actor, has defended her controversial remarks about "Generation Gutter," insisting she was targeting a specific group of young people rather than all Indian youth. In an interview with ANI, Ranaut clarified her comments, stating that those who call themselves "cockroaches" and live in gutters should not be offended by the comparison.

She denied that her comments were meant to insult all young Indians and emphasized that her criticism was directed at a particular segment of society involved in drug addiction, gambling, and the dark web. Ranaut also defended her choice of words, arguing that if someone claims to be a cockroach, it is natural to assume they would live in a gutter.

The controversy began after thousands of students protested against alleged NEET-UG paper leaks and demanded reforms in the examination system, with some protestors using the term "cockroach" to describe themselves. Ranaut's comments sparked backlash from opposition politicians, fellow industry figures, and social media users, including actor Sonu Sood and Congress politician Bhai Jagtap.
