What's going on with Facebook? Is it down? Users report site not loading on laptops while app works fine

Facebook users in the United States are experiencing issues accessing the website on their laptops, while the app functions normally on their phones. The problem began on Thursday morning and has been reported primarily on the website, according to outage-tracking website Downdetector. Users in several US states, including Pennsylvania, Florida, Maine, New York, Ohio, and South Dakota, have reported the issue.

One user stated they have been receiving a "This site can't be reached" message since waking up on August 13th, after attempting various browsers on two different computers. Another user reported the problem in Pennsylvania, noting that the issue occurs on both Windows laptops and Macs when using Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome, but not on the Facebook app or the Firefox mobile app.

The issue appears to be limited to the website and not the app, as users on their phones are able to access Facebook without problems. Facebook and its parent company Meta have not yet provided a public response to the ongoing issue.
