Uttar Pradesh government accelerates disposal of revenue cases

The Uttar Pradesh government has intensified efforts to expedite the resolution of pending revenue cases, with the monitoring and special drives proving effective in recent months. In December 2025, there were 28,556 cases pending under Section 24, related to demarcation/measurement. Between January and July 2026, 91,472 new cases were filed, of which 39,645 were disposed of, bringing the current number of pending cases to 80,383. Only 24 cases have been pending for over five years.

Similar progress was made under Section 34, concerning mutation/registration of names. As of December 2025, 48,910 cases were pending. During the first seven months of 2026, 14,70,133 cases were instituted, of which 10,96,814 were disposed of. Additionally, 2,21,667 cases were dealt with during a special drive from June 15 to 25, 2026, targeting cases that had been pending for more than 45 days.

Section 80, relating to change in land use, saw 28,797 cases received in the same period, with 49,855 disposed of, resulting in zero cases over five years old. The Yogi government has been proactive in prioritizing the swift disposal of old and pending revenue cases, attributing the increase in disposal rates to special drives, regular reviews, and technology-based monitoring.
