US military launches first-ever multinational attack drone task force

United States Central Command (US Central Command) has announced the establishment of a multinational attack drone task force, named Task Force Falcon Strike. The task force will utilize one-way attack drones, with operations managed by US military personnel and regional allies, according to a Centcom statement. This move follows the creation of the US military's inaugural attack drone squadron in the Middle East, known as Task Force Scorpion Strike.

Admiral Brad Cooper, the head of Centcom, explained that Task Force Falcon Strike aims to build upon the success of Scorpion Strike, which has benefited from the cutting-edge innovation among regional partners.

Cooper highlighted that by integrating and deploying their new capabilities together, the task force will enable the United States to rapidly achieve the potential of emerging technologies in the region. Scorpion Strike has been incorporated into offensive operations during the conflict with Iran. In July, the US announced its first successful one-way sea drone strike on an Iranian target.

Centcom is currently engaging in consultations with regional partners to further expand the task force, with the goal of enhancing attack drone capabilities throughout the Middle East.

Admiral Cooper emphasized the strength of the US military's partnerships and friendships in the region, stating that by working together, they can achieve greater results. Drones have become a critical tool in modern warfare, and the US has been actively investing in their development. Earlier this year, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth announced efforts to reduce bureaucratic obstacles, making it easier for the US military to acquire and develop small drones.
