UP Becomes First State With Dedicated Excise Export Policy, Records 84.5% Export Growth

Lucknow, August 13 - Uttar Pradesh has become the first state in India to establish a dedicated three-year Excise Export Policy (2026-29), leading to an impressive 84.5 percent export growth in its first two months. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath spearheaded this new initiative, which has successfully boosted the state's exports, increasing its share in national exports from 8.1 percent to 14 percent.

Uttar Pradesh's contribution to the country's total exports rose from 46.6 lakh dollars to 86 lakh dollars, a 39.4 lakh dollar increase during the same period. The policy's success is attributed to the rationalization of regulatory fees and the implementation of a track-and-trace system for every export bottle. Notable businesses like United Breweries, Mount Everest Breweries, Woodpecker GreenAgri Nutrients, and Allied Blenders and Distillers are investing in new units in Uttar Pradesh.

The policy also emphasizes farmers' interests by linking export incentives to payments to sugarcane farmers, thereby increasing agricultural procurement and employment opportunities. The policy's success has caught the attention of the Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries, with Uttar Pradesh's framework being considered for national implementation.
