UAE schools celebrate record A-level success and 100% pass rates after conflict-driven exam cancellations

UAE students have experienced a unique A-level examination season, as all IGCSE and A-level tests were cancelled in April due to safety concerns stemming from the US-Israel-Iran conflict. Students instead underwent assessments through a Portfolio of Evidence based on coursework and internal assessments. Despite the unprecedented circumstances, schools across the UAE are rejoicing in strong results, with many reporting 100% pass rates.

GEMS Education's British curriculum schools achieved strong results, with 2,388 students sitting 6,312 A-Level examinations across 22 schools. Over one-third of these entries (39%) achieved A*–A, while 67% secured A*–B. GEMS Wellington Academy, Al Khail, reported an impressive 86% at A*–B, and GEMS Metropole School, Motor City, achieved 84% at A*–B.

GEMS Al Barsha National School recorded a perfect score of 100% at A*–C. BTEC Level 3 qualifications also saw exceptional outcomes, with 564 learners completing the course, 46% achieving the highest Distinction* grade, and 72% attaining Distinction or above. The overall pass rate stood at 99.8%, reflecting the students' resilience, ambition, and determination.
