Two weeks of beatings, 29 injuries: Top court upholds death sentence for man who killed four-year-old stepson in Klang

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 13 — The Federal Court today upheld the death sentence imposed on former chef Mohd Sazly Zamry for the brutal murder of his four-year-old stepson, Aidil Adha, in Klang in 2015. A three-judge panel, comprising Justices Rhodzariah Bujang, Che Mohd Ruzima Ghazali, and Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali, dismissed his final appeal against the conviction and sentence.

Justice Rhodzariah, delivering the unanimous decision, described the killing as heinous and diabolical, emphasizing the 29 external injuries sustained by the victim, which could only have been inflicted by Mohd Sazly. She added that the brutality inflicted upon the innocent victim was beyond comprehension and was repugnant to both judicial and societal consciences.

The death sentence was deemed the appropriate punishment for the crime committed by the 49-year-old appellant. Witnesses testified that the victim was locked in a room for two weeks, subjected to constant verbal and physical abuse by Mohd Sazly, who sought his neighbor's help to dispose of the body, claiming it was an accident. DNA evidence linked the suspect to the crime scene and the victim's blood splatters on the wall.

The Supreme Court's decision marks the end of Mohd Sazly's legal troubles, as his conviction was already secure following a strong circumstantial case presented by the prosecution.
