Two Clerics Arrested Over Incendiary Remarks

The Ghana Police Service has arrested two religious clerics, Masud Abdullah and Daniel Junior Yaw Adjei, over alleged inflammatory remarks about Prophet Mohammed. According to the police, Abdullah, a 35-year-old Islamic preacher and Imam, allegedly made statements advocating violence against anyone who spoke ill of the Prophet during a sermon at a mosque in the Ashanti Region.

The controversial remarks sparked concerns among Ghanaians, who described them as capable of promoting violence and threatening the country's religious tolerance. Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu, spokesperson for the National Chief Imam, condemned the comments as dangerous and inconsistent with the principles of peace and respect. He warned that such statements could create fear, tension, and instability.

The National Chief Imam's spokesperson also called for Abdullah's arrest to establish the circumstances surrounding the remarks. Apostle Daniel JY Adjei, known as Apostle Daniel JY Adjei, was arrested after a video surfaced allegedly containing derogatory comments about Prophet Mohammed. Both suspects are currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing.

The police have warned religious leaders, social media commentators, and community influencers against making statements that could incite violence or hatred. They emphasized that freedom of religion and freedom of expression do not justify inciting violence or encouraging harm to others.
