TWICE's Chaeyoung to leave JYP, vows to continue group activities

SEOUL, August 13 (Yonhap) -- In a statement posted on social media, TWICE member Chaeyoung announced her decision to leave JYP Entertainment to focus on solo endeavors. The 27-year-old artist explained that she aims to build her own music career within her "Lil Fantasy" world. Chaeyoung expressed gratitude towards JYP staff and her fellow TWICE members for their support throughout their 14-year journey together.

While she did not reveal her future agency details, she emphasized that her activities as a TWICE member would remain unaffected. Chaeyoung credited her time in TWICE for the immense love she has received, describing it as her roots. The K-pop sensation's departure comes after fellow bandmate Jeongyeon recently signed with Varo Entertainment, the agency her older sister Gong Seung-yeon is under.

TWICE, a globally renowned nine-member girl group, debuted in 2015 under JYP. The band has achieved chart-topping success with multiple albums and has conducted world tours, playing a pivotal role in the expansion of K-pop globally. Currently, the members are in the process of renegotiating their contract renewals, covering both individual and group commitments with JYP.
