Turaki-led PDP backs Adeleke for Osun election

The Kabiru Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has endorsed the Accord Party's candidate, Ademola Adeleke, for the upcoming governorship election in Osun State. This decision was announced in a statement released by the faction's National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong. The endorsement comes after a Court of Appeal judgment upheld the nomination of Adebayo Adedamola as the PDP's governorship candidate for the election.

The appellate court also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to include the PDP logo on the ballot for the August 15, 2026, election. The Turaki faction criticized INEC's handling of the nomination process, claiming the commission had refused to recognize their candidate and withheld the necessary codes for uploading candidates.

Despite this, the faction decided to support Adeleke's candidature, arguing that he is a former member of the PDP who left due to a state-engineered leadership conflict. The faction urged all members to vote for Adeleke and defended the integrity of the electoral process.
