Amerika Syarikat's President Donald Trump claims full control over the Strait of Hormuz, asserting that US forces may maintain their presence in the crucial waterway, US officials reported. Trump stated on social media platform Truth Social that he believes the US will keep the Strait of Hormuz under control. The military deployment is likened to a wall of protection, with no option for Iran to challenge.

As of Wednesday, US forces were shadowing 59 merchant ships, immobilizing three and boarding two to ensure full compliance with the blockade, according to the White House. Trump stated that Iran's military capability has been subdued. The Middle East remains tense following the US-Israel war against Iran late last February, with Tehran and Washington yet to reach a definitive agreement to end the confrontation, while the closure of the Strait of Hormuz continues to disrupt the global energy supply chain.

The US and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding in June and began negotiations to reach a definitive agreement, but the talks have been hampered by disagreements over security guarantees and freedom of navigation in the strategically vital waterway, which is the world's most important route for energy and global trade.
